Around the nation, people are using intense currents of electricity to create unique patterns in wood. Called fractal burning, they’re making wood designs with homemade electrical devices from microwave parts. However, the method is proving to be dangerous. At least 33 Americans lost their lives while burning patterns into wood. That includes two husbands and a Wisconsin couple who were electrocuted. Chicago artist Eric Beauchamp is urging people to stay away from DIY fractal burning methods.
