The Australian’s Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton says the town of Uvalde in Texas is shattered following the deaths of 21 people in a mass shooting last week. He told Sky News host Andrew Bolt the “first of the funerals” has been held for the children who died. He said there was “an extraordinary sense of community” in the town as people rallied to support victims’ families. “People were not that willing to talk about gun reform; they were saying it’s too early.” Mr Creighton said he was struck by the number of people in the town who “are still very much in favour of second amendment gun rights.” “Even in this town, people don’t have an issue with the second amendment. “They have an issue with the availability of certain types of weapons to young men of certain ages.”
