It was a medical emergency; the woman in the driver’s seat was slumped over the steering wheel. A woman who knew the driver sprinted to help her, but she couldn’t stop the runaway car alone. She waved to other drivers, who hopped out of their vehicles to lend a hand. Together they were able to stop the car and help the driver.

Police say the driver ran a red light and was going around 70 miles per hour. The convention center was reportedly hosting several events at the time of the crash, including a girl’s junior volleyball championship. No one inside the building was hurt. The Tesla driver was taken to the hospital “in stable condition,” and was cited for “failure to control” their vehicle.
