James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of the suspected Oxford High School shooter, appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing on manslaughter charges in connection with the shooting. Prosecutors requested that independent attorneys be appointed for the Crumbleys individually to avoid a conflict of interest later on in the proceedings. Prosecutors suggested that the Crumbleys desire to keep lawyers from the same law firm could be part of a plot to get a mistrial declared in the case. The judge agreed and appointed independent attorneys to each of the Crumbleys.
