One hundred million Americans are under a weather alert in a brutal system cutting a swath 2,000 miles long, from New Mexico, through the Midwest, to northern Vermont. Outside Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, good Samaritans helped out stranded motorists by adding chains to car tires and pushing them out of snow banks. In Chicago, one person counted their blessings as they plowed snow, repeating “We don’t have earthquakes, we don’t have hurricanes, we don’t have alligators.”
